VLC is a free and open-source cross-platform (Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, Unix, iOS, Android) multimedia player which plays most codecs with no need for additional codec packs. It supports MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, mp3, ogg, and other music and video codecs, as well as DVDs, VCDs, and other streaming protocols. On a high-bandwidth network, it can also be used as a server to stream in unicast or multicast in IPv4 or IPv6.
